Errol Musk, the 79-year-old father of tech billionaire Elon Musk, has been accused of sexually abusing five of his children and stepchildren since 1993, according to a report by The New York Times on Tuesday.
The report suggests these allegations may be the reason behind Elon Musk, who briefly served as an adviser during the second Trump administration, rarely speaking about his fathert also noted that Musk has occasionally intervened after family members contacted him seeking help.
Errol Musk Denies Allegations
Errol Musk has categorically denied the allegations reported by The New York Times, calling them “nonsense" and “false."
The report, citing personal letters, emails, court documents, and interviews with family members, said Errol Musk, who has at least nine children and stepchildren and has been married three times, “maintains a powerful grip over much of the family."
Elon Musk did not respond to requests for comment.
According to the Times, the earliest allegation dates back to 1993, when Errol Musk’s four-year-old stepdaughter reportedly told relatives he had touched her at the family home.
A decade later, the same stepdaughter claimed she caught him sniffing her dirty underwear. Other family members have alleged abuse of two daughters and a stepson.
The Times reported that three separate law enforcement investigations were launched. Two were closed without action, and the outcome of the third remains unclear.
Errol Musk told the publication that there was “no evidence" to support the claims and accused family members of attempting to extort his eldest son, Elon Musk, by influencing the children to make false statements.
Elon Musk has rarely commented on his father but has described their relationship as troubled.
In a 2017 Rolling Stone interview, he said his father had done “almost every evil thing you could possibly think of." Musk recounted living with his father at age 10 while his younger siblings stayed with their mother.

“I felt sorry for my father because my mother had all three kids. He seemed very sad and lonely by himself, so I thought, ‘I can be company,’" Musk said, adding, “I didn’t really understand at the time what kind of person he was … It was not a good idea."
He further described his father as someone who “will have a carefully thought-out plan of evil. He will plan evil," without providing specific examples.
